From wat moi Taiwan colleagues sexplained, in Taiwan in the last 2 decades got this strange phenomena that whenever DPP win over a city\town, they tend to focus on developing the city\town to attract investment and increase population, this though created many jobs and improved the economy but at the same time also drive up housing cost, rental, overcrowding and hike up cost of living when more and more people come to the city\town to live and work, thus displaced a lot of lower SES and aged local peasants and added to their daily burdens. Can imagine how those locals that already used to slower pace of life and cheaper rundown small city small town life would felt after a few years of fast development that increased their city\town population and modernization by few folds.

But when KMT takeover, normally they don't bother much to develop their city\town or at most will only focus on projects that can make a lot of $$$ for the local land holders rather than those that aid the overall city\town growth, and will be more obsessed in buying\selling lands to pray with land price to increase their own wealth.

So even though this also driving up land cost and housing cost, but this money games mainly pray by the lich\elite nia and housing cost still high regardless KMT or DPP ish running, but under KMT at least their city\town will not develop much so cost of living won't increase as much too. And since this also lead to less job opportunity mean the youth of the locals likely need to move out to find jobs in other better developed cities especially the dpp run one, so these locals won't stay around in the old city\town to everydaze kpkb about the current running mayor and party making them poorer, even komplain about high cost also ish komplain the new developing city\town that they currently working in.

So in the long run, got this funny phenomena that the better the DPP run their city\town, the higher the chance they are hated by the locals and will be voted out in next erection, the few exception maybe ish those city\town that ish considered to be traditional dpp stronghold nia. On the other hand the more corrupt and useless the KMT are in running their city\town, the more support they will get from the Taiwan people.

But this sentiment only apply to their local politic, when it come to national level it seem that as long as the central govt don't make crazy mistakes or si pek unpopular policies, more Taiwanese will still tend to support DPP in becoming their central govt and president.

There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

But now, they'll only do it for money.
