Civil war in the United States is far more likely than you think..

President Joe Biden had 1% point lead. Some 39% registered voters in the 1-wk poll, opens new tab, which closed on Wed, said they would vote for Biden, a Democrat, if election were held today, compared with 38% who picked Republican Trump. Biden's lead was within survey's 1.8% point margin of error.

Voters remain undecided, 11% saying would vote other candidates, 5% saying would not vote, & 7% saying did not know or refusing to answer. Both candidates carry significant liabilities in first U.S. presidential election rematch in nearly 70 yrs, with voters concerned about Biden's age 81 & Trump's upcoming 4-criminal trials, including on charges of trying to overturn his 2020 election defeat.

Poll, which surveyed adults nationwide, included many ways to measure support for Biden & Trump, 77, and most pointed to a close race. Trump had a marginal lead among all respondents, but Biden's lead among registered voters was significant b'cos people who are already registered to vote are more likely to do so in November.

Only 2/3 eligible voters turned out in 2020 presidential election in which Biden defeated Trump. In 7-states election was closest in 2020, a group that could again prove pivotal in November, Trump led Biden 40% to 37% among registered voters. While nationwide surveys give important signals on who America will vote for, just handful of competitive states typically tilt balance in U.S. electoral college, the ultimate decider in presidential elections.

With many voters unenthused by either Trump or Biden, the new poll showed independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr backed by 15% of registered voters should he appear as a third candidate on the ballot, down from 17% in a January survey.

It appeared that Kennedy could siphon similar shares of votes from Trump and Biden. When poll respondents were asked to choose between Trump and Biden without any other options, Biden led 50% to 48% among registered voters, with 2% refusing to answer the question.

While Trump easily defeated former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in the Republican Party's party nominating contest, clinching enough delegates on Tuesday to be the party's candidate, he has vulnerabilities among independents and even within his own party.

Only about 37% of Haley's supporters plan to vote for Trump now that she has dropped out of the Republican contest poll found. Some 16% said they would vote for Biden and the rest said they would vote for someone else or not vote at all, following a controversial ruling by a conservative court in Alabama frozen embryos used in fertility treatments should be considered children, new poll showed only 1/4 of registered voters agreed with that view, while 57% disagreed and the rest were unsure.

Reuters/Ipsos poll collected responses online nationwide from 4,094 U.S. adults, including 3,356 registered voters. It had a margin of error of 1.8% for registered voters and 1.7% for all respondents.

"Anybody that makes a 'Contribution' to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Jan. 24, using many derogatory terms he's employed against Haley. "We don’t want and will not accept them."

Some in the Trump family may not have gotten the message. “I’m getting two texts a day from Lara. T,” said Lalani, a hotelier from Waco, Texas, referring to Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who took over as a co-chair of the Republican National Committee on March 8.

Far from banning Haley donors from the MAGA tent, here is big liar. Trump is now actively courting them, he is one of the bigest time to has a notorious liar. Rotfl

Black voters less swayed by Biden's message that Trump threatens democracy, poll shows· March 15
One of U.S. President Joe Biden's key campaign messages, that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy, is winning over fewer Black supporters and those without college degrees than other segments of his political base

Biden beat Trump in 2020 with an Electoral College win of 306 delegates to 232 for Trump.

New Math is Also a New Opportunity. And Maybe a New Nightmare.

Among battleground states Biden won in 2020, Arizona and Georgia are probably the most likely to flip. But even if Trump takes back those states, Biden would still prevail, 276 Electoral College delegates to 262 for Trump.

However, there are ways for both men to shift the old math. If Trump takes back Wisconsin as well as Arizona and Georgia, he wins the race. Trump could also compete in Nevada (with six electoral votes) and New Hampshire (four electoral votes).

Biden's camp is looking eagerly at North Carolina, which picked up an electoral vote (it's now got 16) and where college-educated voters around Raleigh and Charlotte could give Democrats a state they haven't won since Barack Obama took it in 2008.

And here's a fun (or not) scenario: If Trump takes back Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, and picks up Nevada – but Biden hangs onto Georgia and Arizona and picks up North Carolina – the election would be tied, with each candidate getting 269 Electoral College votes.

Why Biden keep mentioning January 6? B'cos Trump won’t stop talking about it.

CNN news: The rallies start with a recording of January 6 prisoners singing the national anthem. Campaign staff hand out pre-made “Too Big to Rig” signs to supporters. When the candidate takes the stage, he calls the rioters “people who love our country” and “hostages unfairly imprisoned for long periods of time.”

Why does Biden keep mentioning January 6? Because Trump won’t stop talking about it
By Edward-Isaac Dovere and Steve Contorno, CNN
10 minute read

There is nothing subtle about how central Donald Trump has made January 6, 2021, to his campaign. More than just continuing to feed denialism and conspiracies about the 2020 election, he is constantly distorting the reality of what happened that day, preaching vindication to his base of voters.

In ways big and small – but often overlooked because they have become so commonplace at his events –  the former president glosses over the violence. He promises pardons for the people who committed it.

On this, Trump and President Joe Biden agree: January 6 itself is a central issue of the 2024 campaign and will be even if Trump’s trials on related indictments get delayed past Election Day.
It’s Biden’s campaign aides who have been surprised how much that’s true.

People know what happened on January 6,” said Mike Donilon, one of Biden’s closest advisers. “I think most of the country is going to say, ‘We don’t embrace political violence. We do embrace democracy. We do embrace the rule of law. We’re not interested in pardoning people who ransacked the Capitol, and we’re going to have a real problem supporting someone who embraces all that.’”

White House and Congress Clash Over Biden Impeachment

What president wouldn’t want his impeachment investigation dropped, whether guilty or innocent?.
White House lawyer who hoped to put pressure on the House of Representatives to drop the idea. But the speaker of the House isn’t taking orders from the executive – and the investigation continues. Now it’s House vs House as tensions rise and rhetoric flies.

A Showdown Between Branches
“I write to you today because it is clear the House Republican impeachment is over,” wrote White House counsel Edward Siskel. “The House Majority ought to work with the President on our economy, national security, and other important priorities on behalf of the American people, not continue to waste time on political stunts like this.” Bold words for a man with absolutely no authority to enforce them.

Ukraine aid has stalled in Congress, but a Trump-backed plan is picking up steam. WASHINGTON – As aid to Ukraine has stalled in the halls of Congress, interest is growing in the idea of delivering funds to the war-torn nation as a loan, a proposal first floated by former President Donald Trump.

Several powerful Ukraine advocates are still pushing. the House to take up the $95 billion spending package the Senate passed in February with bipartisan support. It’s stuck in the lower chamber, with hard-right opposition stopping its advancement. That bill would send $60 billion to Ukraine, though much of the funding would go to U.S. defense contractors or the Department of Defense to offset aid that has already been shared.

The rest, however, could be provided in the form of a no-interest, waivable loan, Trump said on the campaign trail last month. He come out against the Senate-passed Ukraine aid as is, putting additional pressure on House Republicans to oppose it.

Leaders worldwide have welcomed a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, while the UN chief Guterres says it must be implemented. The UN Security Council for the first time passes a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Fourteen countries voted in favour of the resolution; the US, Israel’s main ally, abstained.

Monday 25 March, US finally ended its stonewalling of UN Security Council resolutions designed to bring a ceasefire to war-torn Gaza.

On 3-previous occasions, US used its veto power at council to scuttle attempts to stop the war.

Analysts: Fundamental rethink of Washington’s support for Israel is needed amid Netanyahu’s govt disregard for Washington’s policy objectives in terms of humanitarian crisis in Gaza & what Israel is doing more broadly in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Biden says federal government will fund Baltimore bridge rebuild. Francis Scott Key bridge was a main thoroughfare for drivers between New York and Washington who sought to avoid downtown Baltimore. It was one of three ways to cross the Baltimore Harbor, with a traffic volume of 31,000 cars per day or 11.3 million vehicles a year.

Mr Biden, who called the collision a "terrible accident", was asked why the federal govt should pick up the tab if ship and its operator were potentially to blame that could be but we're not going to wait for that to happen. We're going to pay for it to get bridge rebuilt and opened."

WASHINGTON — US President Joe Biden pledged that the federal govt will pay the full cost to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, one of the nation's busiest arteries that collapsed hours earlier on Tuesday (March 26) after being struck by a massive freight ship.

“It's my intention that the federal govt will pay for the entire cost of reconstructing that bridge & I expect Congress to support my effort," Mr Biden said, speaking from White House ahead of a trip to North Carolina. A massive freight ship stacked high with containers smashed into a bridge while sailing out of Baltimore, Maryland, early on Tuesday, sending cars and people into the river below and closing one of the busiest ports on US Eastern Seaboard.

Rescuers pulled out two survivors, one of whom was hospitalised, and were searching for more in the Patapsco River after huge metal spans of the 2.57km Francis Scott Key Bridge crumpled into the icy water at around 1.30am local time (1.30pm Singapore time).

"I know every minute in circumstance feels like a lifetime,” Mr Biden said to people who are awaiting word on those missing after the collapse. The President said the search and rescue operation “is our top priority”.
