'Crazy' to argue that S'pore's civil service can continue being good without good political leaders at the helm: PM Lee

"It is like an orchestra: It may be composed of the best musicians in the world, but without a good conductor it cannot produce great music," Mr Lee said.

His argument is only partially true. With an average minister and an efficient civil service, the state of affairs will be kept going relatively smooth for some time (or it will appear to be smooth), before everything finally collapes.

If the civil service is inefficient, then it takes a competent minister to turn it around.

The current state is that of the former case. Some ministers are not outstanding but the civil service is ok (actually not very efficient either).

If like that no need auditor liao. Since we got 'good leaders' at the helm

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

This is the first time that I have heard of this argument. Did he come up with it himself and then try to pin it on the opposition?

Alarmak, it takes both hands to clap.
Transport minister is now under CPIB investigation, the whole ministry does not collapse.
Malaysia PM Anwar can make Malaysia Great? Are you saying he is not a good leader? His civil servants strongly support him to reduce corruption?
RM exchange rate getting better?
What happen to Ukraine now?
Who is the President, the leader,?
LKY had a strong team of civil servants
and he had built a strong foundation for Singapore.
Choose wrong leader? Will Singapore still be a developed country?
Let LW continue to make Singapore "Great"
