My ex-neighbour used to have an amazing dog. He can go out of the house, roam outside for a few months then suddenly appeared in the house again. One year happened a few times.

it's a mid sized mongrel. very tough and street-smart, always the first to run out when gate was opened. so strong that he could break iron chain. a friend liked him so much so he adopted it
