In Singaoore even with what nany believe is the most competent and honest govt....you will be hardprrssed to find people who say we dont need an opposition or can take away check and balance.

In the US we see the check and balance put to the test after 400 yrs ...its not foolproof.

If you go back to Deng XP interview. He was humble about the Chjna CCP system and felt itvwas not a "final system" but one in transition....and had to over time incorporate best practises.
Very basic is the separation of power judicial legislative and executive arms.
China's endemic corruption keeps recurring. They need to learn from HK experience eliminating corruption.
