your story is different from the original meaning of the idiom.

Over time society develops and elites emerged and things become different.

This issue can only be tackled in parliament once the govt has made the decision.
No one can question the govt decision except MPs in parliament.

PAP is using this issue to test opposition MPs to see if they are effective as opposition MPs.
if opposition MPs are ineffective, PAP can be more bold to forgive their own mistakes.
The ball is in the hands of opposition MPs.

In Singapore, however, a simple excuse of not being able to get evidence from  other countries is used to let the rich and powerful executives of Keppel off. Did they even ask for the evidence before claiming they can't get it?

How far have we deteriorated to let perpetrators of a US$55M corruption scandal go free?

This is not the Singapore we know. The morality, ethics and integrity are now all gone.

I salute you for speaking up .. good job

When PAP do wrong, we get punished

When SMEs need cheap FWs, they get punished with mthly levies

When we need the right jobs, we are accused of not having the right skills

When we want face masks during pandemic, we are scolded for hoarding

When we cannot afford normal food/ medicine, PAP raised GST instead.

Only idiots like Jac Lau voted for PAP to pay $10 for his raisin bread.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

This Keppel Corruption case stunned many Singaporeans years ago. I am sure PM Lee and MP Sham is fully aware about this case and should hold a full Parliament session to give us an explantion.

Corruption is not a kpi so there is no kpi failure, therefore warning suffice which already is quite ugly when kpi is met with distinction. Other countries? Pls lah ... their kpi not as solid defined as sg.

"Senior Minister for State Finance and Law Indranee Rajah insists the company, a unit of the government-linked conglomerate Keppel Corporation, has not got off "lightly" by agreeing to pay a $US422 million ($536 million) fine to avoid a criminal trial in the US for bribing Brazilian officials."

Subjectively
Paying a fine to avoid criminal trial is getting off lightly..

They are now playing with words.

This money belongs to shareholders is being used tonpatch their mistakes...while executives get off lightly.

It is highly disgusting they keep spinning  this.

Must try to keep this post alive until either PM Lee or Law Minister Shanmugan given Singaporeans a satisfactory answer.

We shouldn't allowed Singapore to go down the drain.

Is PM Lee happy with CPIB issuing a stern warning to 6 corrupted KOM CEOs?

Why keeping silent is bad?

There's no two ways about it.

Obviously, if CPIB prosecuted them, and final results ended with  unfavourable verdict of a criminal trial,
It will not only changed the fate of 6 KOM CEOs but the entire political landscape.

But then again, allowing it to be swept under the carpet and keeping silent isn't an option either.
