After less than a month in Ukraine's service, the first F-16 aircraft has been lost. The reason has not been officially announced, but it happened in the middle of a wave of Russian attacks.
The loss of the pilot is particularly noted by a Danish major, just as he also has something to say about the unconfirmed report about the crash, which a critical Ukrainian member of parliament has thrown out.
The loss occurred less than a month after the first examples of the western fighter plane, donated by Denmark among other things, were put into service.
The significance of losing one of the very few F-16 fighters and the very experienced pilot in its cockpit, Oleksij "Moonfish" Mes, can be difficult to determine, but one can well answer it, believes a major in the Luftvåbnet and teaches at the Defense Academy Rasmus Ross.
