Vladimir Putin describes the thesis circulated in the Western media, according to which Ukrainian specialists are responsible for the blast, as "total nonsense".
His opponent Volodymyr Zelenskyj also described the version as "ridiculous": "Ukrainians definitely didn't do that."
Both have their reasons.
His narrative: the opponent is not based in Kiev, but in Washington; there (and only there) are those responsible for such a massive blow to Russian interests and Russian infrastructure.
His Ukrainian counterpart follows a different logic. He has to fear that Western European friends of Ukraine, especially the Germans, will not appreciate it when Ukrainians blow up their critical infrastructure.
