UKSB is a local company implicated in the ongoing corruption trial of former deputy prime minister and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid is facing 33 charges of receiving bribes totalling RM42 million from UKSB as an inducement to extend the company's contract as the operator of the One Stop Centre (OSC) service in China and the foreign visa system (VLN) for the Home Ministry.

According to Bernama, former UKSB administrative manager David Tan Siong Sun said the firm gave RM2.6 million to Dr Mahathir for political funding purposes.

Mr Tan said during cross-examination by defence lawyer Ahmad Zaidi Zainal that the funds were paid through Dr Mahathir’s nephew Rahmat Abu Bakar, with the code "Kedahan" used as reference in the ledger.

When asked by the defence lawyer on whether the RM2.6 million was given to Mr Rahmat to be given to Dr Mahathir for political funds, Tan replied: “That’s correct.”

He said the contributions were for Dr Mahathir as well as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), which Dr Mahathir co-founded in 2016 after leaving UMNO.

Nothing will happen to him one lah!

If Najib is jailed for corruption, then most if not all voters should also be jailed because they took bribes.

In other words, what is the point of jailing Najib alone when the whole system from those who were voted to the voters is corrupted to the marrow of the bone?

Well, the point is not about justice and a Malaysia which frowns on corruption, but just to get rid of Najib. It is politically motivated. Now even Mahathir is said to be on the take right?

Malaysia is really a joke and an international one. It's really a blessing in disguise that Tengku kicked us out.

Pejuang after it skipped state elections on Melaka and Sarawak. NOW BIG GAME FOR PEJUANG. Sick

The wisdom is, if Pejuang fails to get seats, it's finish at federal level. ☆ 》 If it wins just a handful of seats and cannot be part of the post-election state ruling coalition, its political future is also good as gone. It must win at least minimum six seats (or 10%) of the Johor seats) in order to be taken seriously.

Dr Mahathir has contracted Covid-19. The nonagenarian has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for "the next few days"  on the advice of his doctors. The two-paragraph statement from his office contains no word on the condition of his spouse Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

It is unlikely to be the grandpa virus from Wuhan or the Delta.  Omicrom is more infectious but less fatal, plus he is probably fully vaccinated and boosted.  The only thing that might work against him is his age.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's upcoming budget is expected to contain populist measures as it precedes a general election, but a soaring deficit means the government will have to constrain itself to targeted handouts, says Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

Polls must be held by September 2023, and next year's budget is currently scheduled to be tabled in the Lower House on Oct 28. Barring a sudden dissolution of Parliament, election goodies should be on the cards.

The 97-year-old blamed the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) for provoking Russia into attacking Ukraine, in a series of 17 tweets, saying that the conflict stems from the Cold War between Russia and Western powers.

Prior to his hospitalisation this week, Tun Dr Mahathir used interviews with the international press to rail against Nato for pushing the Ukrainians to fight Russia and he also criticised the United States for antagonising China with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan in August.

Pardon  Thinking...Jailed Malaysian ex-PM Najib

KUALA LUMPUR — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has applied for a royal pardon, the speaker of parliament said on Monday (Sept 5), less than two weeks after he was sent to jail for 12 years for corruption.

Malaysia's top court on Aug 23 had rejected an appeal by Najib, 69, to set aside his conviction on graft and money laundering charges in a case linked to a multibillion-dollar scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Note: Malaysia's constitution, any lawmaker sentenced to more than a year in prison will automatically lose their seat in parliament, unless apply pardon from the monarch within 14 days.

Parliament Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun said on Monday Najib will remain a legislator until his petition for a pardon, filed on Friday, was decided on. A lawyer for Najib confirmed the petition had been filed but declined to provide further details.

The petition is expected to be reviewed by a pardons board headed by the king, which could also consider advice from the prime minister.

A son of Malay nobility, Najib is believed to be close to some of Malaysia's sultans — the country's traditional rulers who take turns to be the monarch in a unique rotational system.

A full pardon would allow him to return to active politics and even make a comeback as premier, as some of his supporters have called for.

Najib however still faces four other cases, all of which carry jail terms and heavy financial penalties.

Goodbye to Birkins; Malaysia's Rosmah could join husband Najib in jail.
