Singapore has consistently ranked high in terms of public safety, and a recent AsiaOne survey confirms this, although with a slight weakening compared to 2022. The survey, which polled 1,226 Singapore-based readers between December 2 and 5 last year, indicates that the perception of public safety remains strong ¹.
In fact, Singapore was ranked as the safest country in the world in Gallup's Law and Order Index 2022. The country also has one of the lowest fire fatality rates globally, according to the World Fire Statistics Report 2022 ¹.
The survey's findings align with other reports, which highlight Singapore's low crime rates and effective law enforcement. For instance, the Singapore Police Force enjoys high levels of public confidence, with 87% of respondents in a survey expressing trust in the force ².
However, there are areas of concern, such as the increasing trend of methamphetamine trafficking in the region and the rise in scams, particularly phishing and job scams ¹. Despite these concerns, the overall perception of public safety in Singapore remains positive.
