SG govt has taken side with civilians which is a right thing to do, doesn't matter who is the offender.

Military acts should never target civilians. If at all the leaders should just get into the ring and fight it out.

We are strong because our SAF was built by the IDF and we have the money to buy the latest weapons from countries which are willing to sell these to us. However, we are only as strong as our army boys' willingness to fight and die for this country, and we are only as alert to threats as SID (SID not ISD) is.  If we lapse into complacency as Mossad seemed to have, we will be taken by surprise.  We shant be able to survive 3,000 missiles fired at us before dawn.

Having said that, we don't need the SAF as much as before. though some may argue that on the contrary, we need it even more now that we are rich and have something to lose, while we had next to nothing to lose in 1965 when we were broke.

Now we have soft power.  We are everybody's durian, or mango, or kiwi, or honeydew whichever your favourite fruit is that you want to use as an analogy.

Singapore is what she is because of PAP...not because of the Workers' Party, I am not sorry to say it loud and clear.  PAP created more jobs than Singaporeans are able to take up, so much so that we are doing for foreign governments what they are supposed to do but could not do.  Right!  We created jobs for their people!

It is not in their interests to destroy Singapore.  And they know that if they seize Singapore, assuming that they can, Singapore will never be the same.  Jobs which their peepur (Pinoys, Burmese, Thais, Vietnamese, Indonesians, Malaysians) are working in, and bringing lots of foreign currencies back, will be lost.  Why would they want to chop down the durian tree?

So, it's in the interests of all SEA countries to see that Singapore continues to thrive, to be able to give their peepur jobs to bring foreign reserves back. They would not think this way if they can do what PAP did and is still doing, and they know it, so we have a certain usefulness to them...

It is instructive to note that there are 1.3 million Malaysians working in Singapore, some rent a room or flat here, some in JB.  Of the 2.5 million foreigners working here, they account for 52% (1.3/2.5)  The moolah they remitted to Malaysia x 3.4 is mind-boggling.

Intermarriages between the citizens of both sides further makes it very hard to even start a quarrel not to mention a fight. Many of the intermarriages are in fact between two Malaysians, one of whom became a new citizen while the other remained as a PR.   In the legal sense, we are de jure two sovereign countries, but we seem to be more like one country, de facto.

Civilians or military, they are the same peepur.

The military are civilians, when not wearing their uniforms, who trained to fight for their country on every citizen's behalf.

Shooting an unarmed civilian seems low in peace time. But to use the yardstick of peacetime to judge a war is naïve.  This is war.  It's anything goes, to win the war.  War is not so neat and tidy as a boxing match, and you have to accept that the rules of war will be broken and there is no referee to stop it if in instead of killing 10,000 of the enemy's soldiers which you can't, you kill 20,000 of the enemy's "civilians" which you can.. Rolleyes

You just want to wipe out that country, and not that country's army alone.

To take this further, you don't just destroy army camps and army bases, rather, you also destroy residential and commercial buildings to inflict the maximum damage.  No use whining, why bomb civilian buildings?  That's the way war is.

Quite true lah. We cannot afford to offend any country.
Even with the big Little India riot, our special forces or whatever don’t even dare to fire even 1 warning shot.
If it happen in other country, tanks will roll over them wan.
