Singapore has one of the lowest car ownership rates, among advanced economies, worldwide."
Yes, this is our goal.
Car-lite City...🤗💪
W/O owning a car, Forcing hawkers and food stall owners to take public transport..

I have no problem with people not owning a car, but at the same time, it must be such that the rich must pay extra for having additonal cars. This will also give chances to the average people to own cars.

If average S'poreans are able to afford cars, then our roads will be far too congested. At the moment, only 11% of people are able to own cars. Anymore than that is unsustainable in land scarce S'pore.

A tall and muscular man parked his motorcycle outside his usual pub. After he drank for 2 hours, he left only to find his expensive bike was no longer there. Suspecting that the pranksters were the usual pub patrons, he went back inside and threatened: "If my bike is not returned to its original spot in 10 minutes, I will do what I did at this pub 2 years ago, and I would not like to repeat what I did then." While the burly biker was taking another drink, 3 men quietly slipped out of the premises to put the bike where it was originally parked. The biker went outside 10 minutes later, got onto the motorcycle and was about to ride off when the bartender asked him: "What exactly did you do 2 years back that you do not like to repeat?" The big biker answered: "I walked all the way home that night."

Is the COE system fair allowing only the rich and wealthy to own cars but not the poor?

We are blessed with our long-term LTA plan for building a Excellent Public Transportation for everyone living in Singapore. Rich or poor, all take the same MRT, BUS and PHV...😊💪
He might stay in rural Australia and the only transportation is a car as public transportation is almost non-existent. He could not understand that Singapore just cannot afford to use public funds to build roads and parking space for cars. We have efficient public transportation. By not owning a car, we can afford overseas travel in business class at least once a year.

Tokyo population 37,000,000.
"Traffic in Tokyo is notoriously heavy and can be quite challenging. Several factors contribute to this:
Population Density: Tokyo is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, leading to a high number of vehicles on the road.
Public Transport: While Tokyo has an extensive and efficient public transport system, many residents still rely on cars, especially in suburban areas."

Well said mate..👍
There are significant differences between the lifestyles of urban residents and those who live in rural areas with expansive countryside properties.
Among global metropolises, Singapore consistently ranks within the top five for its efficient and well-developed public transportation system. This infrastructure provides significant advantages and convenience to the general population.
Except for SCY...🤣

The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes Tokyo and parts of six neighboring prefectures, is the most-populous metropolitan area in the world, with 38 million residents as of 2023.
The Tokyo metropolitan area, also known as the Greater Tokyo Area, is a combination of Tokyo and its surrounding prefectures. When combined with 6 surrounding prefectures, the area is known as the Tokyo-National Capital Region or the Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area. The 6 prefectures are:
1. _Kanagawa Prefecture_
2. _Saitama Prefecture_
3. _Chiba Prefecture_
4. _Tochigi Prefecture_
5. _Ibaraki Prefecture_
6. _Gunma Prefecture_
Together, these 7 entities form the largest metropolitan area in Japan, with a population of over 38 million people, making it one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.
Here's a rough breakdown of the combined area:
- Population: 38,140,000
- Land area: 13,500 km² (5,212 sq mi)
Note that some definitions of the Tokyo metropolitan area may vary, but this combination of 7 prefectures is the most commonly accepted.
The overall population of Tokyo is about 14.1 million (as of August 1, 2023), and the area is about 2,194 square kilometers
Singapore only 6 millions and 700 sq km.
Look at the land size difference!!!
Tokyo Metropolis is a metropolitan prefecture comprising administrative entities of special wards and municipalities.
The “central” area is divided into 23 special wards (ku in Japanese), and the Tama area is made up of 26 cities (shi), 3 towns (machi), and 1 village (mura).
The 23 special-ward area and the Tama area together form a long, narrow stretch of land, running about 90 kilometers east to west and 25 kilometers north to south.
The Izu Islands and the Ogasawara Islands, two island groups in the Pacific Ocean, are also administratively part of Tokyo, despite being geographically separated from the metropolis.
The islands have between them two towns and seven villages. In addition, islands comprising the most southern and most eastern lands of Japan also fall under the administrative district of Ogasawara-mura; these are, respectively, the Okinotorishima Islands, which have an exclusive economic zone of about 400,000 square kilometers, and Minamitorishima Island.
The overall population of Tokyo is about 14.1 million (as of August 1, 2023), and the area is about 2,194 square kilometers. The climate is generally mild.

That speaks for itself.
World class underground Metro systems suddenly found with extensive cracks and massive disruption with no proper routine inspection and lacking maintenance..
Govt spending billions of taxpayers money building underground subway but no budgets to maintain ..
With commuters unaware and awaiting disasters to happen, MRT could be a ride to hell..
