Among likely voters nationwide, a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS finds 48% support Harris and 47% Trump, a margin that suggests no clear leader in the race. About 2% say they plan to vote for Libertarian Chase Oliver and 1% for Green Party nominee Jill Stein. Both Harris and Trump hold positive support from the majority of their backers – 72% of Trump’s supporters say their choice is more for him than against Harris, while 60% of Harris’ supporters say their choice is more for her than against him.

That’s a major shift in voters’ attitudes toward the race compared with earlier summer. In last national CNN poll in July, shortly after President Joe Biden ended his campaign for president and Harris threw her hat into ring for the Democratic nomination, Harris’ backers were evenly divided between affirmative support for her, those driven by anti-Trump sentiment. Biden’s supporters in earlier polls said they were largely expressing opposition to Trump with their choice.

Latest poll finds Harris & Trump roughly even with independent likely voters –

Harris at 45% to Trump at 41% - with a gender gap that is centered among independents. Independent women break 51% Harris, 36% Trump while independent men split 47% for Trump to 40% for Harris, with very little difference between men and women in either party.

(The likely voters who say, if the election were today, they'd supportSmile Bar chart shows no clear leader among likely voters in the presidential race, with Kamala Harris at 48% and Donald Trump at 47%.
Harris 48% vs Trump 47%
Oliver 2%
Stein 1%
Other 1%???
Methodology:  By CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from Sept 19-22 among a random national sample of 2,074 registered voters drawn from a probability-based panel. Note: Surveys were either conducted online or by telephone with a live interviewer.

Donald Trump has a high chance to falter?.
In US polls, latest polls & popularity ratings are not going entirely his way, as was the case when Joe Biden was still in the poll race. After Kamala Harris' acceptance of Democrat ticket for US elections 2024, things are changing rapidly for Republicans, who are losing their stronghold, even in some of the key swing states, which they had earlier boasted of winning.

Kamala Harris placed ahead in latest poll?
Latest Reuters poll published, has revealed Harris has 7% lead over Donald Trump at national level, is a whopping lead in this tough, intense election contest, if one keeps margin of error at bay, which is 4-points. However, things are not going to be easy for Harris in key swing states, she is still neck-to-neck with Donald Trump, suggesting the fight is still far from over for Democrats. So the battleground states are deciding factors on who next leader of US is going to be, & therefore getting edge over each other in these swing states is extremely important now.

CBS News poll finds tight race in Georgia, where Trump has 2-point edge over Harris. It's a toss-up race for Georgia's 16 electoral votes. Four years after the state narrowly went blue for the first time in decades, the presidential race there remains tight. Donald Trump is currently at 51% in preferences of likely voters, with Kamala Harris just two points behind him.

Financial concerns continue to give Trump an advantage, but not to quite the same degree it did when Joe Biden was his opponent. Meanwhile, widespread concern about democracy keeps Harris competitive. Georgia's voters are divided over recent actions by the State Election Board, and there are stark partisan divides in confidence in the election system, as well as in what should happen after the votes are counted in November.

Kamala Harris goes on offensive with 'tough on border' message. U.S Vice-President Kamala Harris has made a rare trip to the US-Mexico border as she seeks to blunt Republican attacks on immigration.

Harris, who last visited the border in 2021, accused Donald Trump of being focused on "scapegoating instead of solutions" and "rhetoric instead of results".

Earlier on Friday, the Republican nominee argued Harris was "getting killed" on the issue and supports "the worst bill ever drawn" on border security. Polls suggest more Americans trust Trump over Harris on handling the border and illegal immigration.

What’s the latest news about the Trump-Harris race? It depends on who you ask. By CNN Sun September 29F. Betweenformer President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris

Over the past week, Americans were more likely to hear news about former President Donald Trump than about Vice President Kamala Harris. The Breakthrough, a CNN polling project that tracks what average Americans are actually hearing, reading and seeing about the presidential candidates throughout the campaign. But after a spate of high-profile news drew attention largely across political spectrum — including presidential debate, the first assassination attempt against Trump — this week’s data shows a significant divergence between Democrats & Republicans each recalled hearing about GOP nominee. Republicans focused more on assassination attempt against former president in Florida earlier this mth, while Democrats continued to say they hearing more about his baseless claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.

In most recent survey — conducted Sept 20-23 by SSRS & Verasight on behalf of a research team from CNN, Georgetown University & University of Michigan, 3/4 of Americans said they’d @least consumed some news about Trump, slightly outpacing the 69% who said same about Harris. A shift from late August & early Sept then roughly equal shares recalled hearing news about each of the candidates.

Republicans were much more likely than Democrats to mention the word “assassination” and other phrases surrounding the attempt on Trump’s life, such as references to the golf course where the attempt took place.

Trump escalates attacks on Harris' mental fitness, suggests prosecution. He is intensifying his use of personal & offensive attacks, even as some Republicans say he'd be better sticking to the issues. He attacks on his Democratic rival Kamala Harris on Sunday by repeating an insult that she was "mentally impaired" while also saying she should be "impeached and prosecuted".

Trump's rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, took on similar themes as an event one day earlier that he described himself as a "dark speech". He told a cheering crowd that Harris was responsible for an "invasion" at the US-Mexico border and "she should be impeached and prosecuted for her actions".

Forecasting America’s Economic Future Under Harris vs. Trump. The impact of the candidates’ policies on tax breaks, tariffs, immigration, housing and inflation for the US.

Kamala Harris may be the first Democratic presidential nominee to win seniors since Al Gore
We’ve heard a lot about the groups of voters that Kamala Harris seems to be struggling with — or at least not doing as well as Joe Biden did with them four years ago. Yet, the vice president has a small national edge over Donald Trump. How is that possible?

It turns out that Harris is also doing particularly well for a Democrat among groups with whom recent presidential nominees of her party have fared poorly. One such group is senior citizens. Harris may be the first Democrat to carry voters aged 65 and older since Al Gore in 2000.

CNN - Jimmy Carter sets a new record on October 1, his birthday, when he will become the first American president to reach triple digits. It’s a milestone more and more Americans will reach in the years to come – and something the American social safety net is not prepared for.

His has been, indisputably, the longest, most righteous and most productive post-presidency in history, although John Quincy Adams’ post-presidential, anti-slavery efforts in Congress get honorable mention.

It’s been 22 years since he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, just as the US was preparing for war in Iraq. Carter also paid a landmark visit to Cuba that year. It’s been nine years since Carter announced at a news conference that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer and might not have long to live.

“I his had a wonderful life,” Carter said with same unsparing honesty meticulous detail that marked his presidency. “I’m ready for anything  & I’m looking forward to new adventure,” he said, in 40-minute appearance be4 cameras, he frequently beamed his huge smile, never fell prey to emotion. “in the hands of God, whom I worship.”

Voters in the US go to the polls on 5 November to elect their next president.

The election was initially a rematch of 2020 but it was upended in July when President Joe Biden ended his campaign and endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris. The big question now is - will America get its first woman president or a second Donald Trump term?

As election day approaches, we'll be keeping track of the polls and seeing what effect campaign has on the race for the White House. Both candidates went head to head in a televised debate in Pennsylvania on 10 September that just over 67 million people tuned in to watch.

A majority of national polls carried out in the week after suggested Harris's performance had helped her make some small gains, with her lead increasing from 2.5 percentage points on the day of the debate to 3.3 points just over a week later.

That marginal boost was mostly down to Trump’s numbers though. His average had been rising ahead of the debate, but it fell by half a percentage point in the week afterwards.

You can see those small changes in poll tracker chart below, but with the trend lines showing how the averages have changed the dots showing the individual poll results for each candidate... Thinking

New York Times endorses Harris as ‘only patriotic choice’ for president

NEW YORK - The New York Times editorial board on Sept 30 endorsed Ms Kamala Harris, calling the Democrat “the only patriotic choice for president” in the race against Republican Donald Trump. As paper did not even mention the Vice-President’s name until, fourth paragraph of its written endorsement – instead focusing attention on Trump’s unworthiness for the presidency, calling him morally & temperamentally “unfit”.
“This unequivocal, dispiriting truth – Donald Trump is not fit to be president – should be enough for any voter who cares about the health of our country & the stability of our democracy to deny him re-election.”

It’s an “anyone but Trump” approach that The New Yorker took one day prior, with editors at the magazine saying the Republican represents the “ongoing assault on the stability, the nerves, and the nature of the United States”.

In its lengthy endorsement, the Times acknowledged Ms Harris “may not be the perfect candidate for every voter, especially those who are frustrated and angry about our government’s failures to fix what’s broken”.

“Yet we urge Americans to contrast Ms Harris’s record with her opponent’s,” the paper said. “Ms Harris is more than a necessary alternative.”

October surprises are coming at a dizzying pace. But the question is whether grave crises at home and abroad can break a dead heat between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in an election that’s already been marked by huge turmoil.

The White House is grappling with three challenges that could threaten the vice president’s hopes and offer an opening to the Republican nominee’s narrative of Biden-era negligence. A month before Election Day, the US faces the grave possibility of being dragged into a Middle East conflagration; a port workers’ strike could harm inflation-weary consumers; and political pressure is rising in the fallout of Hurricane Helene.

Trump, mean to be hit on Wednesday by the unsealing of a 165-page document in special counsel Jack Smith gives fullest picture of his case in the federal 2020 election interference case. Ex-president has pleaded not guilty, but filing re-injected his attempt to steal last election into frantic endgame of a campaign partially shaped by Democrats’ claims he poses an existential threat to American democracy.
