10,000 could lose their jobs
In the event of an emergency merger with UBS, 10,000 CS employees could lose their jobs, reports the  Reuters news agency . Negotiations behind closed doors would by no means be easy. According to one source, there are "significant obstacles" to be overcome.

Investment banking expert Andreas Ita argued in an interview with  "NZZ am Sonntag" that a merger of CS with UBS would "immediately create calm". UBS could even benefit from the fact that the financial market regulator is now waving through such a merger, which used to be unappreciated.

However, according to Ita, a merger would happen to the chagrin of the employees, who would have to fear a massive downsizing. In the case of a sale abroad, this risk is not so great.
