Owning a car is really wasting money especially for those who just drive it to work, park in the work place for whole day, then drive home in the evening. Better take public transport for the two trips per day.

I spend an average of 1 hour driving my car on a weekday. Besides driving to and from office to go home, I send my daughter to school daily and pick her on my way back at least twice a week. On weekends, I drive to the wet market, to buy groceries, for meals, outings with my family etc. I also ferry my elderly parents to their medical appts. I cannot put a price on convenience. As long as I am able to continue maintaining my present car, I won't be giving it up any time soon.

The way our leaders keep trying to buy our votes, it is certain that the GE is looming. It is also pretty obvious that the Pappies are worried that they will be voted out, so they are handing out the goodies now.

to increased car population it is necessary to increase road capacity.
1.cheapest way, more green wave of traffic lights. that will increase throughput of the road and hence capacity.
2.switch off some traffic lights especially those manning circle in off peak time. peak traffic light helps off peak traffic light slow down as circle itself let human made the decisions. light traffic best for human decision.
review many rigth turn red arrow. green arrow helps a lot. red arrow is a mix bag. those at low traffic and single truning lane really not needed. double lane yes as one lane vehicle can block view of the other view. most of time. red arrow just look very silly as no vehicles from opp direction at all fro entire period of red arrow. some red arrow not working. you wait one cycle and no green arrow???
3. speed detection to curb cheonging red light is out dated. it is sticking to father say you better listen type of thing. as people grow people resent hardline control. those with blinking light beforetraffic light helps a lot. it says warn you too late to cheong, slow down. give people respect as grow up people. sensible people will not cheong red light to risk their own life and others not to mentioned the super high fine.
4. building more roads helps but it is more important to solve the critical jam point and redo the accident area.
each junction slow capacity to 25% in each directions. if can build bridge it will restore a lot of capacity to almost 100%. needed especially at critical junction that always jam.
4.1 like bke to pie junction. need to redraw the lanes to stop last min change of lane 1 to lane 2 to turn to pie and last min change of lane 3 to lane 2. this is asking for trouble as two cars changing lane last min results in many accidents there.
4.2 cannot keep linking one express way to without increasing at least an extra lane on the express way that is receiving the traffic for a distance that allow the speed to increase before merging. example kpe to pie. before kpe no jam. with kpe west bound jam. need a more seamless join. east bound need a fly over form cte to joined pie after kpe exit.
4.3 lornie joing pie. merge the lanes coming from reservior side of lornie first before meging with traffic joining bukit timah side. vehicle try to merge immediately after merge to right lane. best to let vehicle move on left most lane to higher speed before merging. if can block left most lane on pie coming from city will help as are few vehicles want to turn into eng neo road, most is just bus, lorry trying to keep left most lane.
think about it. capacity can be increased by looking at how roads are draw to increase capacity. low cost way. before increasing car popuplations. more roads needed but it is the critical jam area that needs attention

Apart from the morning and evening peak hours, traffic in SG is actually quite smooth flowing with the current ownership curbs. Why is there a need to extract even more money from car owners when we only number a mere 11% of the population? Are our leaders working towards another pay hike for themselves at our expense?
