You will need to open up your ceiling and change to glass so that sunlight can come in. Hydroponic needs sunlight from what I read...... Rolleyes

Actually can install artificial sunlight- don't need for glass ceiling!

But before the vegetables grow - and maybe because high vegetable prices you want to save money BUT your electricity bill would have killed you first!

Like that it won't cost very much to plant some vegetables. Depending on the scale, it can cost you from as little as $100 to as much as $5K.

Perhaps you can start with planting just one or two trays of vege to get the hang of it. You will need trays to hold the substrate, water and plant, table or rack to hold those trays, fertilizer, buckets to hold water, etc.

If you want go large scale, you may consider buying a hydroponic system kit, special pumps, drip lines, etc. All the items you can buy online.

I no expert on hydroponic. All from reading..... Big Grin

Plants grow better with wind so you need some fans blowing at them.

In a tank i have a catfish a giant
In a corner i have a netted enclosure
in the bottom i put charcoal and on top scraps of everything eat egg shell go in

The enclosure is raised above water to keep the compose not too wet
The CAT lives on algae alone and not complaining getting playful and fatty giant.
I use her water to water the plants
