Can push away the responsibility by lip service.
It needs to take full care of its ppl irregardless of race, language and religion.

56 years old is no longer consider a young country.

I agree that the citizens must not rely on the govt too much. This stand requires downsizing the govt to a tiny fraction in size of cabinet today as well as huge reduction in the number of POH that is on the take of the taxes collected.

You cannot have the cake and eat it.

If they remove all subsidies. Many will jump into Bedok reservoir.

It doesnt mean citizens dont rely too much on govt. The cost of living will drop drastically.

He is not saying something new. It's the same theory since Margaret Thatcher times of big govt vs small govt theory.

For citizens not to rely on govt, the govt mechanism has to downsize to a very tiny setup. Then there isn't a need to collect as much taxes to pay for the high administration cost. 

Cost of medical is crazy here because the system protects them and refuse to allow OTC as the alternative.

This analogy is correct.

Don't say rely on govt to solve problems.

It will be good they don't hinder us and create problems for us:

1. Importing more and more people causing property prices to shoot up and become more expensive. Even medical cost is rising fast due to importing of people pushing up demand.

2. Allow more Singaporeans to developed future through access to universities ....right now Singaporean access to university is lowest among developed Asian countries....half of S.Korea.

3. Give us back access to our own money aka COF which is the largest resource of Singaporeans. Invested with the best people to get best returns for the people. Here we have a govt that control the biggest resource of the people and cannot rely on them to solve problems.

5. All the serious problems of inequality...rising poverty and elderly poor all unsolved and getting worse.

Then what are Ministers for?

Ain't gonna fix it as long as they collect $m salaries. Now find out the policy is failing them so ask all not to over rely on govt. Fix govt bodies first then talk.

He is behaving more and more like a politician now.

Is he preparing for the next election to be President?

Singaporean dun like to rely on the Gov but pls dun keep create problem for the Singaporean.

Your analogy is not that correct, becos these "parents" are paid highly to take care us.

They are not the real parents but guardians/agents only.
Real parents will take care the children even the children have become adults. Real parents will never ask for any gain or return from Children. They only hope they are happy and healthy under their care.
