These politicians are just plain ignorant. Taxes are a kind of natural economic stabiliser. During a boom, taxes take more money out of the system and rein in inflation. In a recession, less tax collected help to return the economy back to growth. With overall low corporate taxation, an economy will be prone to wild swings.
