South East Asia combined has alot of potential.
But that has been so for a long time since 1980s the rise of Asian tigers.
In the end what did SEA in was political instability and corruption. Singapore greatly benefitted from absent of both these problems.
Among all Asean countries, Malaysia has the most potential for a lift up in the coming years followed by Indonesia. The main risk is always politics.
Thailand has lots of momentum coming out of the Asian Crisis. But internal politics saw the ouster of Thaksin and military coup and endless political problems for last 10yrs. This frightened foreign investors and saw them leaving for other countries.
