Full Version: Indo: Ministry of Health Says Covid-19 Variant JN.1 Enters Indonesia

Director General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, explained that the JN.1 variant was found in South Jakarta, East Jakarta and Batam, Riau Islands. Cases of the JN.1 variant were confirmed in South Jakarta on November 11 2023, East Jakarta on November 23 2023, and Batam on December 13 2023.

The Covid-19 variant JN.1 which has been detected in Indonesia is the variant that dominates the spike in Covid-19 cases in Singapore on 3-9 December 2023, as reported by  CNBC TV 18 .

Regarding the entry of this variant, Head of the Communications and Public Services Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that her party was still investigating the entry of the JN.1 variant into Indonesia, whether the patient was a foreign traveler (PPLN) or not. He also said that the Ministry of Health was confirming and checking data to trace the findings of the JN.1 variant. 

"It's still being checked," he told Kompas.com, Tuesday.
