because the choose the wrong technology

The real reason why simplyGo needs 20 second is bec in

our current ezLink
the value is stored in the card
the bus system can immediately update the card

but the new system, the value is in the computer system
so when u go up the bus, the fare will be send to the bank through the fare system, deduct and return for your view

The stupid LTA didnt think of that when the implement the system

they should have gone for a system with value cache
the value will still be in your card, however your card value and bank deduction will sync at a delay timing so that the passenger do not needs to wait for 20 sec for the bank to complete the deduction.

why LTA prefer this cannot see system is because if they accidentally deducted more amount, you wont be able to tell until you check ur bank statement
All I can say is sadly we are at the last phase.

will the minister or lta IT director be answerable for this overlook mistake

LETS MOVE ON  IS AN HONEST MISTAKE
BUT WHETHER THEY REALISED IT OR NOT WILL CAUSE SOME VOTES
they wont even admit its an honest mistake

they should have used a paylah system, let us transfer some fund to the simplygo instead

so that they dun need to go through the bank system every time when pay
A kokkup project team and lousy team leaders who didn't do a thorough job, and with supervion of various levels of IT-illiterate bosses
Under Bookworm system, QC already fail.

wrong.
because LTA does not have a Transport Minister to check on LTA as Minister Iswaran is suspended on reduced salary.
we need a new fulltime Transport Minister to check on LTA.

no lah...............the whole plan is to make people dulan..................then take taxi.............

real reason is Pinky wants to make people become slaves to the handphone.................everything only done on hp.................they can control and track you
The write up is only partially correct.

When you go up the bus you tap ezlink once.
Then you go down you tap again.

There has to be processing at the reader to compute how much to charge based on boarding and alighting stop. This processing works out a fare to display and deduct from the card.

The whole thing can be done jn the exact same way for SimplyGo.

So it is a mystery why they can't do it.

The only thing j can think of is the software does not store the SimplyGo ID and merely sends it to the remote back end bypassing what they do for EzLink fare computation module at the reader. There could be fear to the backend being inconsistent with the display but since the display is temporary and only indictive to the commuter, I don't see a problem here.

I really cannot see why this cannot be fixed.

Too late to fix la, system architecture is not something that can be change in a few weeks. It requires at least a year of planning and implementation
Another mistake commited by ah bui ministar?

They are too highly paid to understand that it is very important for ordinary people to see the fare charged so they know how much money is used up on the spot.

They don't understand people actually budget everyday and tracking their own spending  something important.
