I still believe in 时势造英雄.... Both Mao and Deng were leaders who were forced to make civilisation-changing decisions under very challenging situations. That help shape China we see today. Same applies to LKY and his team on 9 Aug 1965.
Since those times, SG and SGreans have not experience such level of social, national upheaval and impactful changes.
