What is behind the 20% rise in new drug abusers aged under 30 in Singapore? 

CNA looks at the issue, and speaks to a young man who started illegal drug use at 18.

Instant gratification...they want quick pleasure fast highs ....

Why?

Because our society seems materialistic and meaningless....

Now singaoore reach this stage of high income and high inequality .....what is the core purpose of our society? To chase money ...and go after pleasures.

The youngsters of today simply cannot afford the private homes, cars and overseas vacations that were possible for their middle-class parents 2 decades ago. These young people now have to grapple with higher unemployment, underemployment and competition from foreigners for their livelihood. Many have simply lost hope of a bright future in S'pore.
Long time no drug pushers and masterminds kena caught and hanged. Very difficult to do that meh?

This is due to the many western-influenced liberals in SG and Malaysia who fight for convicted drug pushers to be spared the death penalty.

So they blame it on curiosity and peer influence. Funny right?

It is the same with drunk drivers who blame alcohol for them causing death and injuries to other innocent road users.
