“...we will introduce a temporary financial support scheme for the involuntarily unemployed, while they undergo training or look for better-fitting jobs.”

🤔 Does the latest Budget hint at a S’porean version of “welfare” — like unemployment benefits in other countries?

It's called Workfare...you need to work to get it.

While welfare is bad and we should not have it because the best system is for people to earn a good wage when they work.....

Howver there is no choice but to give when cost of living is so high people cannot even make ends meet when they work....
The details have not come out but keyword like temporary involuntarily unemployed should give you a hint.

E.g you cannot chao keng pretend cannot get job so keep getting free monies. May cap to a certain time period to get free monies

E.g once you found a job no more can take the monies. In fact the monies you previously take from govt need to payback to the pool of monies so can use to help another unemployed

E.g get new job cannot suka suka quit hence the word involuntary unemployed means employer give you fried cuttlefish not you give them

Let SG not go down the same road as western democracies where the lazy and incompetent are rewarded while the successful are taxed for being hardworking.
