The German Ministry of Defense confirmed the authenticity of the 38-minute recording. The leak created a scandal in Berlin. Mr. Scholz called this a “very serious matter” and said it was being investigated “in depth . ” German lawmakers demanded increased counterintelligence efforts and suggested that the Russian government may have many such recordings.
