I think both sides should sit down and discuss...

China will stop blocking You Tube, WhatsApp, IG and X ....and US should not block TikTok.
Block if they want.
How many US
users are benefiting from Tit tok?
When these people protest, esp near election time, Biden will suffer big lost of votes.
Decoupling now.
Media is a 2 edges tool as far as the politicians are concerned. it can be used to promote as well as to go against the Government and the politicians if they cannot control its use. China has banned such media tools. It is time for US and other countries to consider the same. Singapore Government uses different tactics. They tried to control the use of such media tools ; failing which, they might consider banning the tool.

You can't stop scams even if you ban Facebook and WhatsApp.  As long as there is greed, there will be scams.
Hv been testing Whatsapp without vpn and is working. Why some claimed it's banned?

In China I had to resort to using Line, Viber and even Baidu since a decade ago.

So China is no angel either.
I can surf sgtalk with google chrome, and chat with Whatsapp, use shopee lazada, visit many sites, no problem

Isn't China the one who started banning all these social media apps?

Because US social media companies doesnt want to follow the law in China first
As a Singaporean. We see...both US and China ban each others social media because it cannot trust each other won't use social media to manipulate opinions in the other country.

Views that US is bullying china or vice versa are held by people who are bias...double standard hypocrisy...

China did not blocked them. They refused to comply with the regulations and withdrawn. TikTok complied with assmerica regulations and they still find excuses to banned it. Watch this to get the facts right...

Similarly for US is a regulation issue. The latest regulation requires TikTok have ownership control sold to non Chinese. It is not an outright ban.
There are 4 countries N.Korea, Iran, Russia and China identified as potentially having military conflict with US so there is fear that they use social media to divide opinion in the US.

Similarly China regulation is out of fear that US use its social media to shape opnion in China.

Since both country does nit trust each other and there is growing animosity, ig js natural to protect themselves with various regulation.
