Above is the structure that collapsed and killed the teen.

Below is a design very common used.
There is very little weight on the top just the board and hoop even if it falls it will just cause light injuries.


I played alot of basketball when j was younger and kept thinking how the recent incident can even happen.

A look at the structure used you can see it is very elaborate with 4 metal pieces going all the way to the top and the simple square board is attached to a 4 arm structure which is heavy.

I hope a thorough investigation is done. Something like this should never happen. Yet this one I understand is repeat accident. How can such a fatal incident happen twice....when it should never have happened even once.
