There should not be any rental flats or blocks. But rather 5% rental units for each estate for the poor across Singapore from Ang Mo Ki0, Sengkang, Pasir Ris, Jurong East etc.

This is a cosmetic attempt to narrow the wealth gap between the elites and the hoi polloi.

The hoi polloi won't be comfortable staying in public housing in Bukit Timah since there are not that many amenities in the area. They may resent seeing the high SES living in their landed homes and upmarket condos in the area while they can only afford pigeon holes on limited leases over there. The masses also have to watch luxury cars go by as they wait at the bus stops and head to the MRT stations.

The presence of the hoi polloi would justify more amenities, hawker centers, wet market etc to be built there and benefit the landed ppl

The Bukit Timah Hawker Centre, Bukit Timah Plaza, Beauty World Centre, Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and eateries in the vicinity are close to the HDB flats at Toh Yi near the houses and condos at Upper Bukit Timah. Why build more public housing in Bukit Timah?
