Taking the crown this year is Hamad International Airport in Qatar—which ranked fifth in last year’s awards. Cape Town International Airport in South Africa and Chubu Centrair International Airport in Japan come in second and third place, respectively.

But the real surprise this year points to the US, with Salt Lake City International Airport cracking the top 10 list; the gateway to Utah’s epic skiing and numerous national parks ranked 8th in the world and best in the US. The new SLC airport is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in September 2020 and has been seeing improvements ever since, with its final phase expected to be completed this fall.

Here are AirHelp’s top 10 airports globally and in the US.

Why Consultant viewing our Changi jewel as a piece of  rock...?
still top 10 in term of airport tax
Depending on the criteria used for the rankings.

Having said that, I still think having a shopping mall, hotel, casino or theme park in an airport is not going to make it a better airport though it may help.

Don't worry la. As long as our Minister's pay still world top no1. Who cares
In the top 10 list, I have been to 3 of them. Qatar is a huge shopping mall, but both Kansai & Narita, their facilities are simply old and can be quite chaotic for people to get around. Also after getting off the plane had to walk a long distance getting to the immigration counters, and before boarding the plane the waiting area is not as pleasant as Changi airport.

For airlines business lounges I still prefer Singapore ones, while other than Qatar the other two’s lounges I mentioned, in term of foods and drinks selections, and seats are limited. This is because the lounges are very small and crowded.

And both our T1 & T2 lounges are just gloomy, I guess it got to do with the furnishing.

Also, these airports I mentioned had their hand carry bags checked before the immigration counters. Unlike Singapore, the security checks were just before the waiting bay before boarding the planes.

Not sure how the ranking criteria were used.
