not so if all the production of battery, electricity using oil is taken in.

if europe want to fight china in ev. they got to take another path.
just like china cannot compete with german and japan on engine related development they disrupt with batter ev.

europe can take the path of hydrogen fuel cell ev to disrupt china.
the key will be producing green and hydrogen in quantities and low enough cost.

current problem of battery ev.

battery heavy weight is using up a lot of energy to carry it. less suitable as the energy store requirement goes up like truck or buses.
slow to charge.
degrade over time.

some cases of battery type can burn spontaneously under certain conditions. like high heat. puncture etc.
ev battery fire cannot be put out with the normal type of fire extinguisher.

battery set very expensive to replace. said to be around 40k for certain brand ev.

resale is a problem. with no certification how long battery can last. who want to buy a resale ev and not long later got to replace the battery. if buy battery ev car got to be ready as full expenditure. very low resale value.

those using ev for commercial also got be aware that warranty may not be ok if used in commercial/racing purpose. read the fine print on warranty.

For those nay-Sayers on EV and electrification  - it still goes back to basic: How to create sustainability with RECYCLING and DIVERTING from hydrocarbon energy source.

The Chinese already thought this out, plan and execute  this entire strategic supply chain since 10 years ago..

That is the tough part - Developing industry and Gov policies - Building the infrastructure + supply chain

The easy past is making EV itself...

All these China has basically replace the  120 years industry dominated by the West when Ford sold its 1st Model-A powered by 3L 4-cylinder engine in 1903

This whole EV is bullish!t until I see F1 are all electric.

Paris agreement pushed for lesser carbon yet hosting Olympics. The amount of carbon the whole world generated for this event, did anyone bother to even compute?

The good news (from your POV) is not everyone gets to drive F1 nor care about the environment when comes to hosting grand events...

In short - these are the  biggest BULLSHIT we already know.

Question you need to ask why polluting sports like F1 is still allowed  ? Big Grin
