“The 30-year-old added that in areas where she lives and works, it has been business as usual. And while she has the fleeting worry that far-right groups may also target ethnic Chinese people like her and her husband, she thinks London has a population that is diverse enough to allow her to feel “in the crowd”.

“In London, almost everyone is a minority,” she explained.””

Duh, that makes a minority the majority then. Why doesn’t she just use less confusing terms like “non-white” instead? It’s unambiguous.

Proponents of Singlish view it as unique to Singapore and an expression of our multicultural identity. However, the reality is that most Singaporeans are unable to code switch effortlessly between Singlish and grammatically correct English. It is hardly surprising that the majority of our young are not proficient at handling different varieties of the language. After all, an estimated 50% of households are ill equipped to support the use of Standard English. Even living in the UK does not appear to help improve the English of some Singaporeans.

Because even in England and Wales where there are more minorities, whites formed 82% of the total population.

There are no ethnic group that crossed 50% of the population in London. The biggest group is whites at 36+%. Technically, all are minorities, I guess.
