Amy Khor announces new programme to train poly and ITE grads to become hawkers

Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor announced yesterday (11 Jan) that the government will launch a new work-study programme in March to train polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates to become hawkers (‘Poly, ITE grads can train to be hawkers under new programme‘).

The new Work-Study Post-Diploma (Certificate in Hawkerpreneurship) is a 12-month programme open to to all recent poly and ITE graduates.

Dr Khor said, “With the increasing recognition and appreciation of hawker fare, setting up a hawker stall can be considered as a gateway into the F&B sector, and there could be budding food and beverage entrepreneurs who may aspire to join the hawker trade.”

ITE : Is The Ending.

Creating another problem for the lower income and those not so educated citizen. Being a hawker , you may need to have a diploma cert before you can have a license.
This Papaya keeps creating problem instead of enchacing the lifestyle of its people.

Can have degree in management of sanitory and cleaning, including toilet cleaning! 

next year, we will have training for chicken and chicken house management.

This current administration is a joke. You do not train and educate your young looking at the jobs you have on this island... You give the young the right assistance and opportunities so that they can rise up and the world is a very big arena for them to seek out their future.

Nothing wrong being a hawker. Just that you don't do it with polytechnic or ite certification. You do so via apprenticeship and years of hard work to perfect a dish or two...

So from blue- collar can upskill using Skills Future to be Hygiene Engineer and grouped under PMET for beautiful MOM Reports.

We are giving our best jobs in banking and IT to imported talent and asking our people to be Hawkers, PHV and Grab Food....

I think they are here make a few plan good or bad here and there..take 5 figure pay...sent their kids to oversea top uni...then wait for time to step down and retire..and eventually buy their oversea retirement 2nd home

maybe they going to set up a central kitchen, need many people to chop vege and meat, then supply to food court. in future, all malls food court etc. will outsource to them.

Next ministar announces new programme to train Ntu grads to use hi-tech machine to clear rubbish and clean public areas. This is to reduce the dependent on FTr workers

At our PM asked us to study in ITE now ask us to become hawkers so our citizens only good enough to become hawkers?

No encouragement to foreign students to go the way of hawkerpreneurship?

We have over supply of manpower that G can dispose freely.

Or just another educated locals to be under- utilised as such resources are easily available.
