Humans have evolved but not fast enough to overcome the programming that become serious flaws that cause problems in the context of our present society. Most men and some women fall into one of these traps 1. Uncontrolled lust 2. Gambling addiction 3. Substance abuse.
A simple thing like cigarettes which is known to harm body and waste money, some people also cannot stop once addiction takes hold. Why?
Why does simple act of sexual pleasure which can have devastating consequences become so compulsive that men cannot stop themselves from acts that destroy their lives.
Many years ago I attended a Buddhist lecture and after that became friends with a monk who was a westerner who took up the religion. A lot of Buddhist literature is in Chinese at that time but I wanted to know how people can overcome their "worldly desires" greed, lust, jealousy,etc. It had become blatantly clear to me that the materialism and greed we breed in our society can only lead to dismal outcomes not real happiness.
You can observe what is outside of you. Do you observe your own mind? The mind is full of primal evolutionary programming that control your behavior. From the automatic emotional triggers that cause anger, arrogance, greed
, jealousy...it is also rife with flaws that will trap you in bad behavior.
To be aware of your mind, one has to observe one's own thought process to prevent the path to flawed behavior.
I have two friends who are like that. Both of their father has two and three wives.

Actually it is not flawed by nature. It is society that sets the code that make it flawed.

Prevent such addiction from taking hold is not easy.
Like drug addict know it is bad for them but cannot stop.
The most important step is not to fall into the hole in first place. Sexual pleasures without proper relationship is like a snake trap once you seel out the pleasure it is like heroin you always look for next fix like Wang Lee Hom.
If you failed and fall in what can now save you is you own honesty to admit you have a problem.and seek help.
For a period I was at the casinos and knew the habitual gamblers who were addicted. The destruction to own life and family is terrible. I remember just before govt approved casino one man with severe gambling addiction killed his own family. He relapsed for the 3rd time despite help from church and support from family. A few days later the govt approved the casinos. The casinos were opposed by many churches who had seen the devastation of gambling addiction but their appeal to govt was ignored as it was more important to grow economy and bring in foreigners for the jobs. Recently Japan govt decided to ditch the casinos after seeing what happened in Singapore
Addiction problems are like cancer and medical disease but sometimes even worse effects.
People should be more open to seek help than try to cope with it until it destroys you like Wang Lee Hom ...its too late.
Worst thing to do is hide it or pretend you don't have a problem or deny you have a problem.
Wang is not smart to cover his tracks. Eat finish must wipe mouth. Don leave any trace. For his ex wife to know and dig out all his wrong doings, it only mean that he is no longer interested in the r/s
