So long as the spaceship is disconnected from the station and closed up, it can be remote control by the control room of the US to fly back.   

Another surprise, you said the 2 astronauts are with many others in the space station.   

You mean they all can play hide and seek with many others in a resort meh? Come on, they are like imprisoned in a narrow space worse than in a prison for the last 3 months.

These 2 are supposed to be there for 8 days only. 

Now, more than 60 days already!

NASA still got no idea how to bring them back.

Elon Musk of Tesla offered to use Tesla's spaceship to bring these 2 jokers back but Boeing refused because Tesla is Boeing's competitor.   

That's the problem with American-style democracy.
