The dominant party in Parliament has been able to enrich itself for decades. Notice that every proposal for a pay increment  has never failed. Wage hikes have always been supported by LKY whose ludicrous justifications were pushed down the throats of citizens who were expected to blindly swallow them. Way back in 1970 when ministers’ pay  was increased, LKY claimed that his own pay would stay at $3,500 as a show of his commitment to no wage increase without a growth in productivity. Instead of keeping to his promise, LKY’s salary rose by a staggering 171% from $3,500 to $9,500 over 3 years. SG's productivity definitely did not increase by 171% during that period. In 1981, LKY had another pay hike to $16,500 without any justification. Productivity did not increase by 357% over 9 years! S'poreans have been paying the price for the greed of our former PM, who set a bad example which is now entrenched in our system of money politics. The MIW join politics not to serve, but enrich themselves.
