MOH has issued a notice to MaNaDr Clinic stating it intends to revoke its license for medical services.

Investigations found that a large number of cases seen by doctors involved very short teleconsultations and multiple MCs were issued over a short period of time. 41 doctors are also under investigation, including 7 from public hospitals who have been sacked. https://str.sg/ntM2
Where is this clinic ? Easy to get MC one...
The Ministry of Health has repeatedly made its position clear that private healthcare charges are not under its purview in a free market economy. This has emboldened some private clinics to test the boundaries in terms of medical practices as well. Since there are few providers, private Telemedicine services are not operating in a fully competitive market. Any further decrease in competition will lead to even worse abuses of the free-market system.
On a related topic, escalating healthcare cost appears to be inevitable. However, it is not just errant doctors who are responsible. As long as healthcare is a business and private hospitals are run by publicly listed companies that are responsible to shareholders, charges will continue to rise. Private hospitals charge exorbitant prices for specialists to rent clinics in their medical centres and use the operating theatres and other facilities. These are inevitably passed onto their patients. Private hospitals, faced with high financial targets set by the management, offer referral fees or rebates which encourage doctors to carry out unnecessary laboratory and radiology tests to generate income.

Why weird? This is Malay
Many patients who seek a teleconsultation with a GP do so to obtain an "easy" MC. They are not interested in the medication that is to be delivered to their homes.
Teleconsulting is becoming popular in the UK.
Migrant workers love to use teleconsultations as they know it is an easy way to get a MC. Most dormitories confirm that medication parcels are often left unclaimed at the security posts because the guards are too lazy to distribute them to the migrant workers, and many of these workers are only interested in the MCs.
