One of the measures that may have the most impact on Israeli households is that the value-added tax will increase in 2025 to 18 percent from 17 percent. In addition, there will be spending cuts in most ministries.

The package must go to parliament for approval, which Smotrich said he hopes will happen in January. Failure to agree on a budget by the end of March would trigger a new election.
