It is appalling that when you are poor, others will despise you. However, when you become rich, others will envy or even hate you.

When I was in primary school, one of my classmates claimed that his family stayed at the foot of a hill in a forested area infested with mosquitoes while most of his classmates lived in modern high rise apartments with amenities nearby. It was only later that we discovered that he stayed in a bungalow at Bukit Timah Hill.
