The value of diligent work and dedicated study extends beyond acquiring knowledge that may seem irrelevant in the present. It is about cultivating the essential skills of sustained effort and effective learning strategies. My secondary school years were marked by a lack of diligence. Despite this, I was fortunate enough to gain admission to a reputable JC and NUS. However, I quickly found myself lacking the foundational study habits and self-discipline necessary to succeed. The transition was full of stress, but had I prioritised developing good habits earlier, my academic and professional pursuits would have been far smoother. What are the lessons that you wish to impart to your children or grandchildren?
