"The taste of this local durian is very legit and cannot be beaten by imported durian such as durian montong and musang king. This superior local variety is what we need to preserve," he said.

"This durian season only occurs once a year. Therefore, the harvested durian can be made into processed lempuk (dodol) products that have high selling value. We hope that this product can be developed through MSME businesses," said Dodi.

"After we examine the tree, we will try to make the champion durian tree a parent tree from which we can take the grafts. However, the process of making and distributing seedlings from the champion durian seedlings still needs to be processed until they can be released," said Hamdan.
