CCTV show the Type 055 stealth destroyer Zunyi and Type 054A Hengyang frigate conducting live firing over 200 km off Sydney coast in International water.

People's Liberation Army-Navy (PLAN)  explain this is a "regular exercise" that complies with International law and does not explicitly threaten anyone.  

A forward CIWS Type-1130 30mm gatling cannon firing from a PLAN destroyer.


Size comparison - Note the CIWS cannon is located nearest to the bridge where 2x S-band AESA radar panels are mounted.

Good news is China isn't looking to start any war - The Chinese is just practicing any country's right for "Freedom of Navigation" in international water which is allowed UN rule.

This means a one Type-055 Destroyer fully loaded with x112 +600km-range YJ-18 anti-ship missiles has spare for 2nd strike...
