Costs outweigh benefits for Indonesia to start a war with Malaysia just to secure Singapore. They already have very very strategic islands on maritime routes under their possession.

The US doesn’t need to win outright. Bear in mind they will be fighting a war projected across the Pacific. They also know they won’t win 100%.
Any substantial disruption and big hit to Chinese assets and economy in Asia would already be a win for them.
