Well, it's just the way we mark a year using the Earth's revolution round the sun.

We can actually mark it any which way we want, like counting a new year beginning after x number of ticks on a quartz watch. We can also say every 24 hours is one month, and at the end of the 12th twenty four hours, a new year begins.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow are actually a continuing unmarked flow of time in timeless eternity.
