Bloomberg (8 May 2025) China’s Defense Stocks Advance After India-Pakistan Clash


Shares of Chinese defense-manufacturing companies rallied on Wednesday, as the escalation in border tensions between India and Pakistan boosted the outlook for mainland exporters. Pakistan, which has imported a bulk of the defense equipment including J-10C fighter jets, claimed to have shot down five Indian planes, including a French Rafale jet. This led to speculation that Chinese defense platforms may have been deployed in the conflict, given Pakistan’s recent heavy reliance on such arms imports.

AVIC also produce and exports a complete range of Chinese air-air missiles including the PL-15E export version.
Pakistan purchased over 100 units from AVIC in a 2021 contract.

The PL-15 was developed by China’s 607 Institute (China Air-to-Air Missile Research Institute). The PL-15E has a declared maximum range of 145 km and 300 km range for PL-15 from unclassified China official data.  Both variants terminal speeds exceeds Mach 5. Their guidance systems incorporate inertial navigation, Beidou satellite updates, a two-way datalink, and an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar seeker. The PL-15 series includes warheads estimated to weigh between 20 to 25 kilograms

PL-15 has unique fordable tail fins for compact storage within fighter weapon-bay as in J-20.
