Dr Chee Soon Juan, leader of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), has launched a petition calling for comprehensive electoral reforms in Singapore.
The petition outlines six key changes aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and democratic integrity within the country's political system.
These proposed reforms include establishing an Independent Elections Commission, ending gerrymandering, abolishing the Group Representation Constituency (GRC) system, extending the campaign period to a minimum of three weeks, ensuring a six-month gap between boundary changes and Parliament dissolution, and reviewing media laws to support independent journalism.
Dr Chee emphasises that these reforms are fundamental to ensuring fair and free elections, reflecting Singapore’s progress towards a more mature democracy.
NOTE: There is no need for monetary contribution after you sign the petition.
