He did the right thing n very surprised he even dares to do it. By stopping PR movement especially exit, you are also restricting the outflow of wealth. These PR went there earned big bucks and then leave US to spend back at their homeland, strengthening the economies of their homelands. No US presidents dare to do it although they knew this is an effective way, only Trump is insane enough to do it. Be careful of this kinda guy.
