Traineeship and hoping companies will sign them on permanent jobs? In truth, companies who take in trainees are most likely to expliot cheap labor as well as gov grant, with few exceptions... These trainees will probably be tasked to do GD work, like most interns do.

To MOM ? Hey presto ! suddenly all fresh graduates are employed and give themselves a pat on their back.

MOM, see the real problem - alot of good jobs are filled by foriengers. Do the right thing instead of stop gap measure.

Most of these companies take in traineeship just to keep the ratio of foreign worker to local low. They have no intention to offer them a permanent role in future. My niece worked in 2 such companies before. When she asked for a permanent role after 6 months, they would either ask her to leave or told her to wait (already 2 years) as there is no head count for new hire.
