Full Version: Novavax: A company that had never brought a product to market

At the start of the covid-19 pandemic a small US drug company found itself in prime position to develop a vaccine.

It was an impressive feat for a company that had never brought a product to market and did not own a single manufacturing facility at the time.

But fast forward to today and a series of setbacks has left Novavax lagging far behind its industry rivals Pfizer and Moderna.

The company’s slow progress in production, in comparison with the leading covid vaccine makers, has created doubts as to its ability to fulfil global vaccine orders. Because most middle and high income countries have already sourced their vaccine supply, has Novavax missed the boat?

Novavax vaccine lags far behind it's competitors.....
Novavax and its partners have 2.07 billion doses of orders, most of which are advance purchase agreements that are very hard to cancel, and give Novavax strong profit margins.

The main current fear is its manufacturing is very off track. I describe 7 reasons why it is on track, and will soon be producing ~200 million doses per month.

Hint: Likely Novavax uses Serum data for EMU approval. AZ vaccine and its pre-approved plants. You can recall the US's reply to Novavax last time.

"SII had added capacity specifically for Novavax production over the past several months and was on the way to being able to make 167 million doses per month, or 2 billion per year. That meant SII had already expanded their capacity to be their largest-sized location, so it made sense to lead with them."

Our government should put it as booster dose but not compulsory. Those who wish to take it can take it. The people should be offer a choice. Excess, we can donate, like UAE, to other countries like the Philippines and Vietnam.

After having gathered lots of info on Novavax, I felt this vaccine is not trusted or reliable.  Having said this, Novavax was not approved by WHO during the initial stage of production due to some lapse of infringement protocols.  This vaccine is definitely not my choice.
Bump.
