Studies at Omicron in particular showed that the antibodies that were supposed to block this virus variant were, in some cases, vanishingly low in many test subjects in studies just one month after the second vaccination.

Shortly before the third vaccination, some of them were no longer detectable.

The third vaccine dose, on the other hand, rebuilds the immune protection line against omicron. A British study in December showed that after a Biontech booster, around 70 percent protection against omicrons was available within a week.

But: After about three months, it already drops to just under 40 percent.

According to a new US study , however, sufficient antibodies against Omicron should still be present four months after the third vaccination with Biontech's vaccine.

The company also announced that it will shortly be testing both a fourth dose of the original vaccine and an omicron-specific booster dose in human trials.

Human trials only 1400 people, what a joke.
