With the impending GST hike that can be announced any time soon, many people are buying big ticket items to avoid paying the 9% GST, for big ticket items a 2% hike can be quite huge...........
I don't think so in the sense Rich spend more = pay more in GST.

Look now a days the Rich don't say spend a lot either so call " Smart rich ".

my rich uncle don't everyday go take fine dinning, spend a lot on atas foods or even daily buy luxury items.
Like only Once a while.
Jac Lau has no idea what a supply chain is all about. Ignorance is a bliss for him.

DOMESTIC MARKET-

From the time it reaches the consumers at the end, PAP would have earned many times of 9% just for that one item.

So, it is not just 9% that they are earning.

My point is- Does it create better jobs for locals?

Or make locals poorER and we need 12% next time?
War outbreak soon....still advocating gst hike.

The 9% hike may not be the end, it may balloon to 12% in years to come.  So how can the poor be "richer"......cos everybody pays the same GST, which includes essentials such as rice, sugar, salt, cooking oil, medical treatments, utilities and the like.........
They keep confusing the people that rich pay more GST as they spend more. The truth is GST is a highly regressive tax!. Otherwise one day the rich ministers will say 10% income tax bracket for all and rich will pay more because they earn more. Such fallacy in their thinking!!!
